Corrections

Report a wrong figure to hello@getfoodfacts.com with the page and what you believe is right. We check it against the source file; if our figure is wrong we fix it where it is computed, so every page that shows it changes, and we log it below.

What happens to a report

A person reads it and compares our figure with the USDA or BLS file named on the page. If the source file is right and we are wrong, we correct the database or the code and log the correction here. If the source file itself is wrong, as when a manufacturer submitted an old recipe, we say so on the page and tell you how the source can be corrected: manufacturers update their records through USDA's Global Branded Food Products Database.

Sep 30, 2026In USDA's April 30, 2026 release file, most records made available April 23, 2026 carried their per-serving values as per-100 g values (a Light + Fit yogurt showed 120 calories a cup; the cup has 80). USDA has since corrected them.Every product in that batch, every ranked product and every product page offered to Google is now read again from USDA's live record at each release; 1,814 products took USDA's corrected values and their pages say so, and the rankings were rebuilt.
Sep 30, 2026Pages dated their data "September 2026", the date the site was built.Every page now names the USDA FoodData Central release its figures come from (April 30, 2026) and, for products, the date of the manufacturer's record.
Sep 30, 2026Nutrient lists showed amounts per 100 grams labelled "per serving" (dried thyme at "124 mg of iron per serving").Lists now rank per typical portion from USDA household measures, with per 100 grams beside it; seasonings and dry mixes are ranked per 100 grams only.
Sep 30, 2026Product pages described manufacturers' label data as "USDA laboratory analysis".Product pages say the values are the manufacturer's submission to USDA; only reference foods are described as USDA's values.
Sep 30, 2026Product summaries repeated per-serving values as "per 100 g".Every sentence now carries its own basis, computed from the same values as the Nutrition Facts panel.
Sep 30, 2026A brand page counted 262 products for a company with 46,954 records.Brand pages count the products they list, one per barcode, and name the brand as it appears on the package.
Sep 30, 2026A study titled "added sugar" measured total sugars and counted duplicate submissions. The study was replaced by a category-matched comparison of total sugars on one record per barcode.
Sep 30, 2026Food prices stopped at June 2026 and averaged a part year as a full one.Prices are refreshed monthly from the BLS API; a year in progress names its months.
Sep 30, 2026Keto and diet lists used package weights as servings (a 4 to 6 lb cheese at "800 g of fat per serving").The diet pages became the low and high nutrient lists (keto: 5 g of net carbs or less per portion), which use typical portions; product servings above 500 grams are compared per 100 grams only.
Sep 30, 2026Values a manufacturer declared as zero (0 g of trans fat, 0 g of fiber) were stored as missing, so pages showed no value for them.Zeros are kept as zeros; "not declared" now means the record carries no value.
Sep 30, 2026Rankings could be led by records with impossible values (more than 100 g of protein per 100 g, or zero calories for a cookie).Such records are kept out of rankings and comparisons, and each ranking states how many it left out and why.
