Per 100 g, the list starts elsewhere
The portion ranking compares everyday foods at the portion FDA's reference amounts describe (USDA's NLEA serving where it lists one). Seasonings, sauces, powders, dried and concentrated forms, raw meat and fish, uncooked grains and dry beans, restaurant items and foods without a household measure near that portion are ranked per 100 g only: nobody eats a cup of dried thyme. Per 100 g, these lead:
| Food | Choline per 100 g | In the portion ranking |
|---|---|---|
| Egg, yolk, raw, frozen, salted, pasteurized | 705 mg | ranked 12 |
| Kidney | 509 mg | not an everyday portion (rule above) |
| Fish, caviar, black and red, granular | 491 mg | ranked 26 |
| Brains | 487 mg | ranked 1 |
| Pork, fresh, variety meats and by-products, chitterlings, cooked, simmered | 471 mg | ranked 4 |
| Chitterlings | 467 mg | ranked 2 |
| Beef, variety meats and by-products, liver, cooked, braised | 426 mg | ranked 5 |
| Liver, beef | 415 mg | not an everyday portion (rule above) |
